Today I lost one of my friends. He was a good and hard working gentleman; handsome and above all God fearing. He did not survive a major operation. Felix; may your soul rest in perfect peace at the bossom of the God you served so well.

Is gratitude worth expressing?

A feeling of thankfulness and appreciation to a conferer for his graces. That is Gratitude.
Quite often, we fail to express gratitude for the graces that we receive. While supposing that in their sufficiency, our benefactors may gain little from our expression of thanks, we must also acknowledge that we loose nothing in making them know their acts made a difference in our lives and that they are thus worthy of appreciation. Yet it will be untrue to state that nothing is gained from the expression of thanks and/or appreciation for by doing this we instil happiness beyond measure in the hearts of those we thank. We all have had that heartwarming experience when we are made to feel usefull. However, it is obvious that there is always a reason for not showing appreciation or expressing our gratitude openly. I am just now trying to figure out some of these reasons.
It sometimes happens that in our human greed and wickedness, we do not even feel thankful for the love, kindness or support we get in times of need. This is something about human nature that I have not fully and may never understand why.
What do you think about this?

I met two nice ladies today

Sometimes some people we love and cherish just kind of step out of ones life. It happens quite frequently at this youthful stage when we have to move around looking for our real places in life. You can therefore imagine the joy i had in me when i met one of those kind of friends today. The laughter and joy and merry making was so much when Diane just stepped into my office. We did not even think of the things that have kept us apart for so long. I wish some of those past years never went by. I usually have such joy when i meet Blessing but coincidentally, they were both here. Sometimes life is really worth living.

The matter of girls' dressing

Being African, and I want to say that there is a lot of westernisation taking place here with us, the most prominent form being the adoption of western dressing habits. With this I have no problem given that we want freedom of everything. But when one starts having problems like discomfort in adverse weather, harrasment and/or rape; evidently caused in one way or the other by the way we dress, then we have to think again.

The degree of damage this freedom is causing to our indegenous cultures and rich heritage is lamentable, but i also wonder aloud if it is at all avoidable given the fast rate at which most African girls are picking up the strings and the thongs which leave the wrong parts sticking oddly out.

We can solve our problems.

We Can Really Do it.

It is great to see that we love ourselves quite much.

There have been many associations and NGOs and conferences aimed at finding solutions to African problems, hunger being one of them. My dear friends should we continue to create others to achieve this? Please do not think I am pesimistic! We rather should identify the weak points and bottlenecks of the present organisations and improve on them.

I must agree with some members here that a lot has to be done at the level of international trade to improve on the economies of African Countries.

I However believe in teamwork. I trust that if a small fraction of Africans want to see the situation change then that is enough to make the difference.

I have been through a bit of suffering myself and i know how things look from the inside. We who can do something should really do it because as the legendary Bob Marley says in one of his greatest hits "... None but ourselves can free our minds...", I think true freedom is freedom of the mind. We therefore owe ourselves freedom as a first step to solving other problems.

Peace is Priceless!!
